Résumé
L’ICMC s’est tenue à l’université McGill à Montréal en octobre 19911 les deux textes
réunis ici, l’un émanant d’un compositeur de l’IRCAM, l’autre d’un défenseur des
orientations actuelles de la musique américaine, présentent deux points de vue
radicalement opposés sur cet événement, le premier auteur n’y voit qu’amateurisme et
utilisation stérile de la technologie, le second, ouverture d’esprit et possibilité de
choix.
Abstract
The ICMC took place in October 1991 at McGill University (Montreal). The texts
presented here, one by a composer at IRCAM and the other by an exponent of current
tendencies in American music, offer two radically different points of view on this
event. The first writer sees nothing but amateurism and the sterile utilisation of
technology, while the second, an openness and freedom of spirit, and the possibility of
choice.
